Tinubu Highlights Administration’s Efforts to Tackle Economic Challenges

President Bola Tinubu has emphasized his administration’s commitment to addressing Nigeria’s economic difficulties through innovative initiatives in the mining sector and efforts to combat oil theft.

Represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima at the graduation ceremony for Course 32 of the National Defence College in Abuja, Tinubu outlined the administration’s proactive measures to alleviate economic strain on citizens. He highlighted the introduction of a new ₦70,000 minimum wage as a key step in improving economic conditions for both civilian workers and members of the armed forces and security agencies.

Tinubu stated, “Our country faces significant socio-economic challenges, and we are keenly aware of our people’s needs. We are committed to taking decisive actions that benefit our citizens.”

The administration is also focused on tackling crude oil theft to stabilize the economy. “Our local forces and security agencies are working diligently to combat oil theft, which is crucial for achieving economic stability,” Tinubu added.

Furthermore, the President mentioned plans to foster innovative business models in the mining sector, in collaboration with international partners, to support national security and development.

He praised the military’s efforts under his administration, assuring that they will be well-funded and prepared for their responsibilities.

Rear Admiral Olumuyiwa Olotu, Commandant of the National Defence College, reported that 111 participants completed the course, including 35 from the Nigerian Army, 19 from the Navy, 12 from the Air Force, five police officers, and three from the Department of State Services. Additionally, the Nigeria Customs Service, National Judicial Council, Ministry of Defence, and Defence Intelligence Agency each had two participants.
