How Two Missing Minors were Found Dead in Ogun River
Malik Abdulganiyu and Hawal Akande, two minors who had been missing, were found dead in a river in the Egudu Baale community within Ado-Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State.
Omolola Odutola, the state’s police spokesperson, confirmed the discovery on Saturday. Abdulganiyu and Akande, who were 15 and 13 years old respectively, had left their home on Olaigbe Street to head to their workplace at the local Salvation Army on Wednesday.
The following day, their mothers reported them missing when they did not return home. A search led to the discovery of their bodies in a river near their residence.
Odutola stated, “On August 8, 2024, around 1:30 a.m., the mothers of the deceased reported them missing. The bodies were later found floating in the river close to their home. Police investigators examined the scene and the bodies but found no evidence of foul play.”
The families have requested the release of the bodies for burial in accordance with Islamic traditions.
