See How Pregnant Banker Gives Birth in Osun Prison, Sparks Controversy

Outrage has erupted in Osun State following the case of Mrs. Awanat Ajayi, a banker who recently gave birth while incarcerated at the Ilesa Correctional Facility.

The Osun Police Command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola, had earlier revealed the arrest of Talabi Adeniyi, a manager at First Bank, in connection with a N650 million fraud involving Proof of Funds (POF). Ajayi, one of Adeniyi’s associates, was detained after allegedly accepting a bribe from a Magistrate.

The fraud case reportedly unraveled when Adeniyi lost the N650 million. Ajayi faced charges in an Osun State Magistrate’s Court, presided over by Olusegun Ayilara, for allegedly accepting N10 million from Magistrate Oyindamola Daramola.

Despite her lawyer’s oral bail application citing her imminent delivery and her Hepatitis B condition, Ajayi was remanded. In August, Magistrate Ayilara set stringent bail conditions, requiring a level 14 officer and a monarch to serve as sureties, along with a N5 million deposit.

During a recent court session, it was revealed that Ajayi had given birth via Cesarean section. However, Magistrate Ayilara informed the banker’s husband that childbirth alone was not sufficient grounds for bail, stating, “Your wife’s bail conditions remain unmet. Delivery is not a technical reason for discharge. This decision is governed by the law and can only be altered by a higher court.”
