Yesterday, the Federal Government began its initiative to offer free conversion of petrol-powered commercial vehicles to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
Louisa Afu, Business Development Executive for Presidential CNG, explained that this initiative is part of the government’s strategy to mitigate the impact of fuel subsidy removal and promote cleaner energy sources. Afu stated that certified technicians will install CNG kits in vehicles, allowing them to operate on natural gas rather than petrol.
This free conversion program is anticipated to benefit numerous vehicle owners in Ibadan and surrounding areas by reducing their fuel expenses and supporting environmental sustainability. Afu also promised that the initiative would expand to other regions of the country as part of President Tinubu’s commitment to advancing sustainable energy solutions. She added, “We are distributing 150 conversion kits and cylinders to commercial vehicles today. This effort reflects the President’s dedication to addressing the challenges faced by Nigerians.”
