Trump Plans to Prosecute Google Over Alleged Bias in Coverage
WASHINGTON, Sept 27 (Reuters) — Former President Donald Trump, currently running for the Republican presidential nomination, announced on Friday that he intends to pursue legal action against Google if he wins the election on November 5. He claims the tech giant only showcases negative stories about him.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump provided no evidence to support his allegations. He stated, “It has been determined that Google has illegally operated a system that only highlights unfavorable stories about Donald J. Trump, some of which are fabricated, while exclusively promoting positive narratives about others.”
He described this as illegal conduct and expressed hope that the Justice Department would take action against the company for what he sees as blatant election interference. “If not, I will seek to hold them accountable at the highest levels once I regain the presidency,” he added.
Google has not yet responded to requests for comment regarding Trump’s statements.
This isn’t the first time Trump has made such claims. In 2019, he asserted that Google had favored negative news about him during the 2016 presidential campaign, a claim that the company dismissed at the time, according to the Washington Post.
