8,000 NNPP Supporters Switch to Labour Party in Kaduna

On Saturday, a significant wave of political change swept through Kaduna State as 8,000 members of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) joined the Labour Party, rallying around Tinok Andrew Nok, a senatorial aspirant for the 2023 elections.

Tinok, who is the sister of former Kaduna State Commissioner for Education, Prof. Andrew Nok, emphasized her belief that the Labour Party aligns with her values of integrity and public service. She stated, “My choice to join the Labour Party was largely influenced by Senator Nnadi Usman, the party’s National Caretaker Committee Chairman.” She expressed her intention to utilize her extensive experience to bolster the party’s presence in Kaduna.

During the welcoming ceremony, Jonathan Asake, the Labour Party’s gubernatorial candidate for 2023, who stood in for Senator Nnadi Usman, acknowledged the importance of this transition. He assured that the party is evolving and will leverage Tinok’s expertise to enhance its viability in both the state and nationally. He encouraged her to apply her knowledge to help redefine the Labour Party’s direction in Kaduna.

The gathering also marked the distribution of Labour Party flags in preparation for the local government elections scheduled for October 19. Tinok’s switch is viewed as a considerable advantage for the Labour Party as it gears up for the elections, evident in the large crowd that attended the event, highlighting the excitement surrounding her transition.

Political analysts anticipate that this development could alter the political dynamics in Kaduna State, with the Labour Party gaining momentum ahead of the local elections.

As the election date nears, the Labour Party’s performance is set to attract significant attention. Earlier, Mr. Yusuf Solomon Danbaki, the State Caretaker Committee Chairman, assured candidates in the upcoming council elections of the party’s unwavering support and commitment to their success.
