NGO Calls for Urgent Action: President and Governors Must Confront Kogi Governor, Ododo’s Corruption Obstruction

The Vanguard for Credible Representation (VCR), a non-governmental organization, has called on President Bola Tinubu and the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) to intervene and prevent Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo from hindering anti-corruption efforts.

In a statement released in Abuja by its Head of Mission, Onche Ugbabe, the NGO criticized the activities of a pro-Yahaya Bello group, Africa Media Roundtable, which suggested that Governor Ododo should be honored.

The statement emphasized: “We reaffirm our demand for the Presidency, NGF, and the Progressive Governors’ Forum to step in and protect Nigeria from further disgrace by addressing Governor Ododo’s actions. The so-called Roundtable has insulted our intelligence by claiming he deserves celebration. Celebration for obstructing justice? For providing refuge to a person wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) under a court order?”

VCR also condemned Ododo’s protective stance towards former Governor Yahaya Bello, asserting that it undermines President Tinubu’s renewed anti-corruption agenda, making both the President and Nigeria subjects of ridicule.

The organization concluded by urging the President and the governors to take action and hold Governor Ododo acc

ountable.
