Bishops David Abioye and Thomas Aremu Bid Farewell to Living Faith Church After Over 30 Years of Service

In a significant transition for the Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishops David Olatunji Abioye and Thomas Aremu are officially retiring this October, following more than three decades of dedicated service.
According to recent announcements, Bishop Thomas Aremu’s farewell service is set for October 15, 2024, at LFC Basorun in Ibadan, Oyo State. Meanwhile, Bishop David Abioye’s valedictory ceremony will take place on October 18, 2024, in Durumi, Abuja.
Bishop Abioye first met Bishop David Oyedepo in 1979 and has been a key figure in the ministry ever since. He was appointed to lead one of the five original branches in 1987 and became the youngest bishop in the church’s history when he was consecrated in 1993 at the age of 32.
Bishop Aremu, who transitioned from a career in accounting to full-time ministry, is the last of the seven bishops consecrated in November 1999 at Garden of Faith, Kaduna, to remain active in the church.
This retirement marks a historic moment, as it is the first time pastors who have served so diligently will be honored upon their retirement. Recent changes to the church’s mandate have lowered the retirement age from 60 to 58, with only the founder allowed a lifetime of service. Future leaders will be limited to one or two terms of seven years, pending Board of Trustees approval.
This development signals a new chapter for the rapidly growing church, which has been operating for less than 50 years.
