Four South African Police Officers Arrested for Audacious Robbery of Nigerian Rapper

Four officers from the South African Police Service have been arrested for allegedly robbing a Nigerian rapper of jewelry valued at R20 million, or roughly N1.9 billion.

The suspects, identified as Jacobus Groenewald, Bradley Minnaar, Mthuthuzeli Mafanya, and Bathandwa Soldati, reportedly broke into the rapper’s home in Llandudno, Cape Town, on September 14, stealing his valuable jewelry.

The officers were apprehended by the SAPS Anti-Corruption Unit after being accused of staging a robbery at the artist’s residence. They appeared in Wynberg Magistrate’s Court last Thursday, facing charges of aggravated robbery.

According to sources from Cape Argus, the four officers were part of a larger group of eight who allegedly used their police uniforms and vehicles to carry out similar robberies in the affluent neighborhood.

“They arrived at the Nigerian national’s home, claiming they were searching for a wanted individual, but instead, they stole jewelry worth R20 million,” the source reported.

The officers reportedly left fingerprints throughout the house while stealing luxury items, including Rolex watches, gold bracelets, emeralds, and ivory. “They were careless and left behind clear evidence, even though this was a planned operation. Although they are based at different stations, they appeared to have formed a syndicate,” the source added.
