Correctional Service Fails to Present Binance Executive Tigran Gambaryan in Court

On Friday, October 18, the Nigerian Correctional Service was unable to bring Tigran Gambaryan, Binance’s Chief Financial Crime Officer, to court due to significant health issues.

Gambaryan, who has been in custody for 232 days facing money laundering allegations related to Binance, is reported to be “very sick,” which hindered his attendance at the hearing.

The court was slated to resume cross-examination of the prosecution’s second witness in this prominent case. However, confusion arose when officials could not initially locate Gambaryan, causing concern for the defense team.

Health has been a major concern for Gambaryan since he collapsed in court in May, suffering from repeated episodes of malaria and pneumonia, along with complications from a pre-existing herniated disk. His worsening condition has left him largely confined to bed and reliant on a wheelchair.

Despite these serious health challenges, his recent bail request was denied by the court. The next hearing is scheduled for October 25, with the court now prioritizing Gambaryan’s access to appropriate medical treatment.
