How A Heroic Act Prevents Gas Explosion in Neighbor’s Apartment

I’m still a little shaken up by what happened.
Earlier today, there was a gas leak in the building next to ours, and the situation quickly escalated. I heard the alarming sound of gas hissing from a cylinder and immediately rushed outside to check if it was coming from our side of the fence. That’s when I heard someone shouting, “Egbami o!” from the other compound.
I asked what was happening, and the woman explained that a gas leak was about to cause an explosion, but she couldn’t stop the gas from escaping.
Without wasting any time, I grabbed my fire extinguisher and quickly unlocked it. I then ran over to the neighbor’s apartment, dressed in nothing but my boxers and singlet. Yes, that’s right—just my boxers!
I won’t lie, I was terrified. The thought of that gas cylinder exploding while I was handling it kept running through my mind. What if it went off in my hands? What if I couldn’t get it under control? But then I thought about my wife and kids, and I knew I couldn’t just stand there.
What really shocked me was that none of the neighbors came out to help. It was just me. But somehow, I managed to stop the gas leak—it turned out to be a camp gas cylinder.
