See Reasons Woman Seeks Divorce Just Two Weeks After Wedding
A woman, Wuraola Surajudeen, has petitioned an Area Court in Ilorin for a divorce, just two weeks after marrying Surajudeen Iya-Onitasi. She cited “lack of love and affection” as the reason for her decision to end the marriage.
In court, Wuraola explained that this was not her first marriage, having previously divorced her first husband due to pressures from her mother. She described her former husband as becoming overly religious after their wedding, which led to conflicts with her family.
Wuraola stated that she initially felt a strong connection with her current husband but soon developed intense feelings of resentment toward him after their wedding.
On the other hand, Iya-Onitasi told the court that his wife left their home without his consent, expressing dissatisfaction with the marriage. Despite his efforts to consummate the union, she refused, which led him to give her space. He also requested that she return the N20,000 dowry he had paid.
Presiding Judge Hammed Ajumonbi instructed Wuraola to repay the dowry and adjourned the case until December 4 for a final ruling on the divorce.
