Taraba Governor’s Sister Accidentally Shot by Police Escort in Gunmen Ambush

Atsi Kefas, sister to Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas, was accidentally shot by a police escort during an ambush by gunmen on Thursday, according to reports by FIRST CLASS GISTS.
The incident took place as Atsi, along with the governor’s mother Jumai, was traveling along Kente Road in Wukari Local Government Area. Zagazola Makama, a publication specializing in counter-insurgency issues in the Lake Chad region, stated that a police officer assigned to protect the family mistakenly shot Atsi while trying to defend them from the attackers.
In the aftermath of the ambush, military personnel intervened and rescued both women, evacuating them via air ambulance. Atsi was subsequently rushed to a hospital for treatment, though her current condition has not been publicly disclosed.
Security forces later recovered the gunmen’s vehicle, along with an empty magazine and personal belongings belonging to the victims found inside the car.
