In another operation on the same day, based on reliable intelligence about terrorist activity, troops ambushed a group of militants at Kwanar Jollof in Shinkafi LGA. Several terrorists were neutralized, and others sustained serious injuries. The operation also led to the recovery of significant weapons, including one AK47 rifle, one G3 rifle, 8 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, 4 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 3 magazines, and 3 motorcycles.
Earlier, on December 30, 2024, the Air Component of Operation Fansan Yamma carried out precise airstrikes on terrorists gathered between Fakai and Kware in Shinkafi LGA, responding to intelligence reports that militants, led by Bello Turji, were holding a meeting in the area. Further airstrikes followed on January 2, 2025, targeting the Maikaman Rini area in the Sububu Forest, where the Air Component supported ground troops attacking the camp of the notorious terrorist leader Ibrahim Chumo.
On January 5, 2025, the troops continued their offensive against Bello Turji’s stronghold in Chida, Shinkafi, based on ongoing aerial surveillance that confirmed substantial terrorist casualties and the destruction of their hideouts.
The Joint Task Force, through Operation Fansan Yamma, remains resolute in its commitment to eliminating terrorist threats and ensuring peace and security in the region. The force also calls for continued community cooperation to achieve its mission.
