The Ogun State Police have detained Odeale Fatima, a woman accused of using a razor blade to severely cut a 10-year-old boy (identity withheld) for allegedly stealing N600.

The incident reportedly took place in Obada Oko, Ogun State, where the child is said to have taken the money to buy ice cream for his friends.

Sources indicate that Fatima, who serves as the child’s guardian, inflicted the brutal punishment on the boy’s hands.

Omolola Odutola, spokesperson for the Ogun State Police, confirmed the incident to DAILY POST, revealing that the boy is a student at a private school in the Araromi area of Obada Oko.

Odutola stated that at approximately 11:00 a.m. on January 13, 2025, a group from the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools in Obada Oko, led by coordinator Olagbegi Moses, brought the boy to the police station to report the incident.

Following their report, police arrested Fatima, who confessed to using the razor blade to punish the child for allegedly stealing N600 to purchase ice cream.

Odutola further explained, “At 11:00 a.m. on January 13, 2025, a delegation from the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools in Obada Oko, led by their coordinator Olagbegi Moses, came to the station with a 10-year-old student from Dinamis Private School in Araromi area of Obada Oko, who had severe cuts on his hands.

Upon questioning, the child revealed that his guardian, Odeale Fatima from Obada Oko Housing Area, was responsible for the injuries. Fatima admitted to using a razor blade to punish the child for allegedly stealing N600 to buy ice cream for his friends.”

Odutola added that Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has instructed an immediate investigation into the matter and assured the public that updates will be provided as the case progresses.
