How Kidnappers Kill Vigilante Member and Kidnapped Another Colleague In Lagos
A member of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Kayode Goriola, was killed by suspected kidnappers in the Igbe community of Ikorodu, Lagos State, in the early hours of Saturday.
According to PUNCH Metro, the kidnappers entered the area through a swampy section of the community and confronted Goriola and his colleague, who were on duty trying to prevent the abduction.
A local resident, Tunji Alao, shared details of the incident, stating that the two vigilantes tried to stop the kidnappers, but were overpowered. Goriola was shot in the head during the altercation, and his colleague was abducted by the assailants.
“This is the fourth kidnapping incident in our community,” another resident, who identified himself as Okla, revealed. He recalled that in a previous attack, a couple was kidnapped from their car, leaving their infant behind. The couple was later freed after a ransom was paid. In another incident, a vigilante member was killed, and their leader was injured and required two months of hospitalization.
Lawal Abdullahi, the head of the vigilante group in Igbe, confirmed the incident but was focused on making burial arrangements for Goriola. He indicated that more details would be shared later.
As of now, the Lagos State Police have not responded to requests for comments, and attempts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, were unsuccessful.
