Security Guard Arrested for Stealing Company Property in Ogun

A 59-year-old security guard, Olaitan Matthew, has been arrested by the Onipanu Division of the Ogun State Police for allegedly stealing electric motor parts from the company where he was employed. Matthew, who works for Land Star Company in Tomori, Animashaun Estate, Ota, was detained around 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday.
The arrest was made by the division’s anti-crime team after Matthew failed to explain how he came into possession of the stolen motor parts.
Confirming the arrest, Police Public Relations Officer Omolola Odutola stated that after intense questioning, Matthew confessed to stealing the parts during a period when the company’s production was temporarily halted.
“On January 15, 2025, at approximately 4:30 a.m., Olaitan Matthew, a 59-year-old security guard, was caught by the Anti-Crime Team of the Onipanu Division at Land Star Company in Tomori Estate, Ota,” Odutola explained. “He was found with electric motor parts but couldn’t provide a satisfactory explanation for having the items. Upon further questioning, he admitted to stealing them from the very company he was hired to safeguard.”
Odutola added that investigations are still ongoing to recover any additional stolen items.
