See the Numbers Dead, Injured in Ogun Road Collision

A tragic accident on Ogijo Road in the Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State has claimed the life of 38-year-old Mariam Olatuga, an employee of Sonia Company.

The Ogun State Police Command spokesperson, SP Omolola Odutola, revealed that the incident occurred around 2:40 p.m. on Wednesday. The crash involved a TVS motorcycle with the registration number SUA 148 VH and an ash-colored Toyota Camry, registered as MUS 808 JA.

Odutola explained that the collision took place when the motorcycle, carrying two passengers, attempted to cross the road without checking for oncoming traffic. The speeding Toyota Camry collided with the motorcycle, leading to a fatal crash.
Mariam Olatuga tragically lost her life from the injuries she sustained, while the motorcycle rider and another passenger were critically injured and are currently undergoing treatment.
The police report identified the driver of the Toyota Camry as 30-year-old Babatunde Solomon, and the motorcyclist as Ebenezer Joshua. The two passengers were Odujobi Damilola and Mariam Olatuga.
“Preliminary investigations show the motorcyclist failed to observe oncoming vehicles, and in the process, the speeding Toyota Camry hit them, causing serious injuries to all involved,” Odutola stated.
The victims were rushed to Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, where Mariam Olatuga was pronounced dead upon arrival. The two injured passengers are currently receiving medical care.
Odutola added that the authorities have taken the damaged vehicle and motorcycle for inspection and that an investigation is ongoing.
In related news, another fatal accident occurred on December 30, 2024, on the Abeokuta-Sagamu Expressway, where one man died and seven others were injured after the vehicle they were traveling in suffered a tyre burst. Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency Commandant Seni Ogunyemi confirmed the details of that incident.
