Security Forces Bust Kidnap Syndicate in Anambra, Seize 14 Firearms and Charms

A recent operation by Anambra State’s newly established security unit, Agunechemba (Udo Ga-Achi), has led to the capture of a suspected member of a kidnapping gang, identified as Mr. Chukwudi Tansi.

Tansi was arrested during a late-night raid by operatives at Enugwu-Agidi, located in the Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State. The operation took place around 12:15 a.m. on Thursday, January 30, 2025, targeting a well-known hideout of criminals involved in kidnapping activities.

During the raid, authorities recovered a significant arsenal of weapons, including 14 firearms of various types. The items seized were shared widely on social media and included: 2 AK-47 rifles, 8 pump-action shotguns, 4 homemade pistols, 3 packs of cartridges (totaling 101 rounds), 4 AK-47 rifle magazines, 3 machetes, 1 Baofeng radio, 1 motorcycle, and various charms.

Efforts to confirm the details with the state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, were unsuccessful as he did not respond to calls or messages.
