The Lagos State Police have unearthed the body of Adedamola Ogunbode, a graduate of Lagos State University (LASU), who was allegedly buried in a shallow grave. This revelation came after the arrest of the main suspect, Olaoluwa Ajisomo.

Ajisomo was apprehended early on Monday in the Alakuko area. Benjamin Hundeyin, the Police Public Relations Officer for Lagos State, stated that the suspect had allegedly used Ogunbode’s phone to drain the victim’s bank account.

Ogunbode, who earned a degree in Political Science Education from LASU, had been missing since January 16, 2025. His disappearance raised concerns, particularly after reports emerged about a disfigured body resembling his being found.

Earlier, the police had arrested three other suspects and revealed that five more individuals were being sought in connection with the crime. One of the suspects, a pastor named Whepetoji Sunday, allegedly withdrew N70,000 from Ogunbode’s account. Another individual, Sheriff Adebayo, a church member, was said to have taken N300,000.

In response to threats of a large-scale protest by the student union, Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, instructed the State Criminal Investigation Department to oversee the investigation.

The investigation is still ongoing, with authorities assuring the public that all those responsible for Ogunbode’s death will face justice.
