Lere Olayinka, Aide to FCT Minister, Reacts to Viral Obituary Image of Wike

Lere Olayinka, an aide to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has addressed the circulation of an obituary poster bearing Wike’s image. The viral photo, which surfaced online, falsely depicted the minister as deceased, sparking reactions from the public.

In his response, Olayinka strongly condemned the act, describing it as irresponsible and malicious. He emphasized that such actions were not only misleading but also showed a lack of respect for human dignity. According to him, the spread of false information, especially one as sensitive as an obituary, was unacceptable and should not be encouraged.

The minister’s aide also warned against the dangers of using social media to spread misinformation, urging Nigerians to verify content before sharing. He reassured the public that Wike is alive and well, dismissing the obituary as a baseless attempt to cause panic or confusion.

Olayinka further called on authorities to investigate those behind the false publication, stressing the need for accountability in curbing the spread of fake news. He maintained that such acts of misinformation could have serious consequences, urging people to focus on constructive discussions rather than engaging in harmful propaganda.

As of now, Wike has not personally responded to the viral image, but his supporters and associates have widely dismissed it as a desperate move by mischief-make
