Beyond Politics: We Stand With Ideals, Not Parties – Obedient Movement Osun Sends Strong Message

The Osun State chapter of the Obedient Movement Group (OMG), under the leadership of Prince Adeola Adeyeye, has once again emphasized its non-partisan stance. According to the group, their focus remains solely on supporting leaders who prioritize the interests of everyday Nigerians, rather than aligning with any political party or individual politician.

At the group’s official inaugural meeting held on April 27, 2025, Prince Adeyeye clarified that while they rallied behind Peter Obi in the previous election, their support was based on shared values and vision—particularly the goal of building a reformed Nigeria that upholds justice, equality, and pride for all its citizens. He affirmed that they would continue to support Obi only if he remains committed to the ideals of a “New Nigeria.”

The movement, a grassroots pressure group with a presence in every local government area across Osun State, was instrumental in securing over 28,000 votes for Obi in the last election. This widespread structure enables OMG to mobilize effectively in line with their cause.

Various representatives from non-indigenous communities in the state—including groups from Benue, Edo, Tiv, and Igede, as well as members of the Ohaneze—shared their reasons for joining the movement. They echoed a common sentiment: a deep frustration with being manipulated by traditional political structures.

In closing, Prince Adeyeye emphasized that his support for Peter Obi transcends ethnic lines. “As a Yoruba man, I am committed to reviving and preserving our cultural identity. But my support for Obi stems from his vision for a united, functioning Nigeria—not from tribal allegiance,” he stated.

He concluded with a firm message: “We cannot be bought. Our mission is to ensure that future generations look back and see that we stood up for what was right.”
