2027: Faduri Set to Run for President, Accuses Labour Party of Betrayal

Faduri Oluwadare Joseph, Fouder of Rescue Movement

Nigerian politician and founder of the Rescue Movement for a New Nigeria, Faduri Oluwadare Joseph, has officially declared his intention to run for president in 2027. In a bold and passionate statement titled “A Call for Justice and a New Direction: 2027 Is Our Time,” Faduri didn’t hold back—accusing top Labour Party leaders of betrayal during the 2022 presidential primaries.

Faduri, also known for creating Fadojoe Coin, reflected on his journey from NNPP to the Labour Party, claiming he revived both parties when they were practically inactive. He said his hard work and investment in building up the Labour Party were undermined when the presidential ticket he had pursued was suddenly given to Peter Obi in what he described as a shady backroom deal.

“What’s happening in Labour Party now is karma in action,” Faduri said. “The chaos today is the result of the betrayal and injustice my team and I faced in 2022.”

He revealed that before the 2022 primaries, he built structures nationwide and brought life back into a struggling party. According to him, just days before the primaries, party leaders “sold their conscience” and handed the ticket to Peter Obi for personal gain.

Despite having grounds to challenge the outcome in court, Faduri said he chose patriotism over legal battle. “I could’ve stopped the Labour Party from being on the ballot. But I didn’t. I put Nigeria first.”

Since then, he claims, the party has been in turmoil—an outcome he believes stems from the injustice done to him. Faduri also argued that Obi’s campaign was built on a flawed foundation, predicting it would not stand the test of time.

“I was the David in that election,” he declared. “I had what it took to beat every Goliath. But greed won the day.”

While Faduri remains a Labour Party member, he’s keeping his options open for 2027 and hasn’t yet confirmed which party he’ll run under. One thing is certain: he’s in the race.

He ended his statement with a call for change: “Tinubu, Atiku, Obi — their time is up. Nigeria needs a fresh generation of leaders. Look at Obama, Macron, Zelenskyy, and Traoré. We deserve that kind of visionary leadership.”

As the 2027 race starts to heat up, Faduri’s declaration is likely to stir even more tension within an already divided Labour Party.
