Oyetola Pledges to Lead APC Back to Victory in Osun

Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, has reaffirmed his commitment to steer the All Progressives Congress (APC) towards regaining control of Osun State. He vowed to work tirelessly to ensure the party’s success in the upcoming gubernatorial election.

Osun State is scheduled to hold its governorship election on August 8, 2026. The current governor, Ademola Adeleke, is expected to seek re-election under the banner of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking at the Iron Ladies Group’s inauguration and awards event—a key women’s faction within Osun APC—held in Osogbo on Thursday, the former governor of Osun, represented by ex-Director-General of the State Bureau of Social Services, Mr. Richard Tinubu, called for solidarity among party members. He emphasized that unity would be crucial in the campaign to reclaim the state government.

Oyetola declared, “I am ready to lead the APC and will put in my best efforts to return the party to power in 2026.”

He also encouraged the group’s members to intensify grassroots mobilization for the APC. He urged them to continue rallying support for President Bola Tinubu as the administration works to rejuvenate Nigeria’s economy for the benefit of all citizens.

Earlier, Adesola Ayangbile, the State Coordinator of the Iron Ladies Group, highlighted that the association aims to create a strong network of politically active women who offer mentorship and support. She reaffirmed the group’s dedication to advocating for women’s and children’s rights.

Ayangbile also revealed that the group has endorsed Mr. Bola Oyebamiji, Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), as their preferred candidate for the APC’s governorship nomination in 2026. They also pledged to vigorously support President Tinubu’s re-election bid in the 2027 general elections.

In a speech delivered on behalf of her husband, Dr. Shekinat Oyebamiji, who stood in for the NIWA MD, expressed gratitude for the group’s endorsement. She assured that Oyebamiji would strive to meet their expectations if elected governor.
