Dr Thomas Olaleye Ogungbangbe has recommended effective management of the dynamics and processes of political leadership succession from one individual to another, optimistic that it’s possible to navigate challenges and ensure a successful party leadership transition.
The All Progressive Congress (APC) chieftain and Senate aspirant from Osun East Senatorial District made the recommendation, this Sunday morning, in the face of the politics of leadership transition in the Obokun state constituency of Osun, which has, over time, continued, somewhat unabated, hightening power struggle and factionalism within the party in the constituency.
Ogungbangbe preached party unity and collaboration in the Obokun constituency to diffuse tension, division, and conflict and foster trust; and the party in the constituency can effectively work together and focus on the shared goals of the party, following through on commitment and demonstrative good faith.
He called for a smooth party leadership succession to ensure the stability and continuity of the party in the Ijesa North Federal Constituency, comprising Obokun and Oriade local government council areas, as he believes that a new party Leader for the constituency will bring fresh perspectives, ideas and energy to the party and impact its health.
The party in the Federal Constituency, at the Iwaraja meeting, Ilesa, at the weekend, arrived at a temporary arrangement, with the party arch stakeholder and erstwhile Leader of the party, Otunba Emiola Ogunsanya entrusted to ensure that the party’s operations continue uninterrupted, manage the affairs of the party and charged to facilitate a smooth transition to substantive party leadership.
The contention of the party leadership in the Federal Constituency is long and loud on transparency and accountability between Otunba Jumoke Ogunkeyede (JMK) and another party minder, Chief Nasiru Komolafe (Ajeje) from the same Obokun state constituency, leaving Oriade state constituency helpless in its legitimate strides, restlessly to move the party forward, ahead of the next convention and primary.
At the review of the Iwaraja meeting that reportedly never formally held, the Ogunkeyede people said that “the tradition of the party leadership transition in Ijesa North Federal Constituency is not disrupted, but the problem is our Obokun intra-constituency leadership crisis.” They commended Ogunsanya and described him as “consistent.”
Phone calls put to Komolafe did not get through, his people, however, called and lauded Ogunsanya as a “trustworthy leader.”
