Osun 2026: Aregbesola Declares Intent to Dethrone Adeleke, Backs ADC for Victory

Former Interior Minister Rauf Aregbesola has expressed strong confidence that the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will emerge victorious in the 2026 Osun State governorship election, vowing to displace the current governor, Ademola Adeleke.
Speaking at a recent political gathering, Aregbesola responded to rumours about Adeleke’s shifting political allegiance. “From the onset, it was said Osun would have three major political parties. Now it’s clear Adeleke is switching camps. We’ll face off in Abere — and ADC will triumph,” he declared.
Turning to the national landscape, Aregbesola was sharply critical of the current federal government, accusing it of deepening economic woes across the country.
“A government under which citizens can’t afford food has lost its legitimacy. Anyone claiming things are better today than before is part of the problem,” he stated. “Since this administration came in, even nature seems affected — the rains have become irregular. Clearly, the nation is not moving in the right direction, and we should hold leaders accountable when they fail to meet the people’s needs.”
