In the last six months, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit, working alongside various divisions and units, has apprehended 2,785 individuals suspected of serious crimes such as kidnapping, terrorism, murder, armed robbery, cultism, and child trafficking. These efforts have led to the safe rescue of 58 kidnapping victims and 42 trafficked children, many of whom have been reunited with their families.
Further investigations have uncovered a substantial arsenal of weapons and explosives, including 2 General Purpose Machine Guns (GPMG), 14 AK-47 rifles, 20 pump-action shotguns, 4 homemade rocket launchers, 7 gas-cylinder bombs, locally crafted hand grenades, numerous live ammunition rounds, cartridges, as well as Biafran flags and other ritualistic items. These seizures have contributed to making Imo State a safer place for its residents.
