Countries That Have Recently Eased Visa Restrictions for Nigerians

Across Africa and beyond, several countries have recently updated their visa policies to make travel easier for Nigerian citizens. This reflects a growing trend toward more open borders and stronger international ties with Africa’s largest population.
Here’s a rundown of some nations that have simplified visa requirements for Nigerians in recent times:
1. South Africa
South Africa has made significant strides in improving travel access for Nigerians by allowing visa applications without the need to physically submit passports. This streamlines the process, making it more secure and convenient. Starting July 2025, Nigerians will be able to enter Kenya visa-free and stay for up to 90 days. This aligns with Kenya’s broader goal of promoting Pan-African unity and encouraging tourism, trade, and cultural exchange within the continent.
4. Rwanda
Rwanda continues to be a trailblazer in promoting continental integration by offering Nigerians visa-free access for stays up to 30 days. This policy supports the country’s vision of becoming a hub for tourism, business, and regional diplomacy. Rwanda’s open visa regime is a reflection of its ambition to create a more
