Fear of Resignation Rocks APC Aspirants Ahead of Primaries
A new scenario is emerging within the APC among aspirants who are presently holding juicy federal appointment.
The APC primaries is getting close and normally for a person to contest, the person has to resign his/her position according to the APC constitution and guidelines. The Primary is scheduled for 13th of December, and anybody that wants to contest has limited time to submit his/her Resignation letter.
The problem there is for those who have Governorship ambition that already have juicy appointments in the Federal level, there’s is that of Fear of Uncertainty.
For example, the reason why Oyetola cannot join the race is because he is a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If he intentionally resigns, it will be a minus for Osun State; likewise other aspirants who are presently holding Federal appointments, It will be a minus for Osun if they resign; because nobody can pinpointedly say that the replacement the President will make after their resignation will be from Osun state again.
Among the members of the party, new agitation is also springing up; that what is the benefit of holding a juicy Federal appointment? If the person does well, he can carry the appointment for 5years and even if the president enters for second tenure, he can still renew the federal appointment.
One of the problems APC has is recycling of appointments among favoured members. There are foundation members who have not gotten any position and there are people that served in the government of Aregbesola, and also served in the government of Oyetola and are also serving under the president presently. People are complaining about those people that it is selfishness and greed that is killing them.
Some aspirants are already struggling to be nominated in case of Resignation, hoping that the Federal Government exchanges them for those that resigned. For example, one Federal appointee who is a director in the ministry is juggling to be appointed as a Federal Director- someone who is holding another key and juicy federal appointment?
There is also a case of a senior formal house of assembly Officer who is also hanging to be nominated for another aspirant in case of resignation.
The PDP are already waiting for these developments. Meanwhile, the PDP itself is mired in its own internal crisis as the Country home is still hoping against hope to benefit from any lifeline from the APC.
The Adelekes are still appealing to Political leaders accross Southwest to assist it’s desire to defect into the Apc, particularly notable Leaders from Ogun State. For obvious reasons, no Political leader in Osun State could be approached for such. The last of such leaders of Osun State politics nicknamed Baba Gomina died soon after the Country home took over, leaving Political leaders of the PDP completely ostracized and marginalized by the Adelekes.
The destruction opprobrium and hatred incured by the PDP administration has due to the Adelekes notoriety for naked and unabashed nepotism in political appointment and siting of infrastructure has distanced Osun West PDP Leaders, rubbishing the OSUN West lokan slogan totally.
Reports has it that the last of the Osun PDP Senators who is from Osun West in the Senate is set to defect. It is also rumoured that influential PDP Leaders in Abuja are pressuring the Senator to run for Osun Governor as replacement for incumbent Adeleke.
Fingers remain crossed by the ADC watching the unfolding drama in Osun State both the APC and the PDP.
