Nigeria Needs a Mad Man Like Me — Wike

Nyesome Wike
Former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said Nigeria’s challenges require an unconventional and fearless leader to fix them. He argued that the administration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) under former President Muhammadu Buhari plunged the country into a state of disorder, insisting he had the capacity and determination to restore sanity if he had emerged president in 2023.
Wike maintained that Nigeria was at a critical point at the time, stressing that he possessed the courage and leadership strength needed to turn things around. According to him, his vision was to rebuild the country, promote unity, ensure peace, and set Nigeria on the path of sustainable growth and prosperity.
He also noted that his ambition was serious and purposeful, not symbolic, adding that he joined the presidential race with the clear intention of winning. Responding to those who label him a “madman,” Wike said the situation in the country itself was abnormal, arguing that only a bold and unconventional leader could confront such deep-rooted problems.
