Bandits Kidnap Brother of Yagba West Council Chairman in Kogi

Suspected bandits have reportedly abducted the elder brother of the Chairman of Yagba West Local Government Area in Kogi State, Mr. Tosin Oluokun. The incident happened on Monday while the victim was working on his farm within the local government area.

Sources in the community said armed men invaded the farm and forcefully took him away to an undisclosed location. As of the time of this report, full details of the abduction were still unclear, but residents confirmed that the attackers escaped shortly after the incident.

The kidnapping has deepened fears over rising insecurity in the area, especially among farmers who have become frequent targets of abductions. Many residents say farming activities are now carried out in fear.

The incident comes shortly after another attack in the state, where gunmen reportedly abducted over 20 worshippers during a service at the First ECWA Church in Ayetoro Kiri, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area. The attackers allegedly stormed the church, fired shots to cause panic, and escaped with their victims through nearby bushes.

These repeated attacks have heightened anxiety across parts of Kogi State, with residents calling on security agencies and the government to take urgent steps to address the growing wave of kidnappings and violence.
