If Fubara Fails in 2027 Primaries, I’ll Stand With the Winner — APC Chair Yilwatda

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, has stated that his support in the party’s 2027 governorship race in Rivers State will be determined strictly by the outcome of the party’s primary election.
According to Yilwatda, although Governor Siminalayi Fubara currently leads the APC structure in Rivers State, he must work in harmony with other party stakeholders. He emphasised that the national leadership would not impose a preferred candidate on the state chapter.
The APC chairman said he would fully support Fubara if he secures the party’s ticket. However, if the governor fails to emerge from the primaries, Yilwatda noted that he would express sympathy but stand behind whoever the party chooses through its internal democratic process.
He stressed that the APC remains committed to fairness and unity, adding that loyalty to the party’s primary election outcome is non-negotiable.
