Osun APC Blasts Adeleke Over Alleged False Claims on Federal Allocations

Adeleke appoints Kolapo Alimi, as minister

PRESS STATEMENT.                                                   (26TH JANUARY, 2026)

STATEWIDE BROADCAST:

*Stop Spreading Falsehood About Payment Of Federal Govt Allocations In Our State*

– Osun APC Slams Adeleke

The Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the state Governor Ademola Adeleke for his constant misinforming the populace on the true state of the administration of the local government councils in the state.

It would be recalled that, as usual, the embattled Governor Adeleke made a statewide broadcast/press conference today, accusing the Federal Government, the police and the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, of being instrumental to what he termed ‘the withholding of the federal allocations for the local government councils since February last year.

The whole content of the governor’s broadcast titled: ‘The illegal occupation of local government secretariats and the defence of democratic order Osun State’ was a ploy to use falsehoods in order to confuse and ultimately misinform the members of the public as it is far from the truth that the reinstated APC chairmen and councillors are illegally occupying the local government council secretariats since about one year.

One would have expected the pungently confused Governor Adeleke to have been bold enough to have owned up in his broadcast that he used executive power to sack the legally elected APC chairmen and councillors immediately he assumed power without allowing them to enjoy the constitutional full cycle of the courts to seek for justice in their ordeal then.

It was also expected that the governor would have been honest enough to tell the world that it was the Court of Appeal judgement of the 10th of February, 2025 which reinstated the APC local government council chairmen and the councillors in its landmark judgment and that there is no information anywhere signifying the appeal of the judgement which made the legal pronouncement binding to date.

Part of the brazen lies told by Governor Adeleke that the reinstated APC council  chairmen and councillors are suing for the elongation of their tenure does not hold water as the matter before the Federal High Court in Osogbo is the determination of the three-year tenure by the APC council executives.

One would have expected a state executive that would be honest enough to have disclosed in his broadcast that apart from the determination of the tenure, the reinstated APC council chairmen and councillors are also asking for the legality of the conduct of another election into the councils during the subsistency of the tenure of the reinstated APC chairmen and councillors.

Why did Governor Adeleke fail to inform the world that it wasn’t true that the Federal Government or any of its agencies was withholding the federal allocations to the local government councils when it is a statement of fact that the Governor Adeleke-led administration and his corporate allies in the government are having about ten litigations in various courts to frustrate the payment of the allocations to the reinstated APC council chairmen and councillors?

Has Governor Adeleke forgotten that his government is also having various suits against a commercial bank, praying the bank not to release the allocations to the reinstated APC council chairmen and councillors, which is causing untold suffering at the local government council areas in the state?

One wonders in what capacity is Governor Adeleke making a case for the local government administration in the state when it is obvious that the Supreme Court judgement has given a full and unconditional autonomy of the local government councils to the council executives?

Governor Adeleke should stop acting as a meddlesome interloper in the issue of the local government as he lacks locus standi to make case for them in the spirit of the complete autonomy granted to them by the Supreme Court.

We also want to impress it on Governor Adeleke to henceforth stop blaming his inability to perform effectively in the office on our leader, the immediate-past governor of the state, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, whose achievements in the various sectors are verifiably written in gold.

Why did it elude the memory of Governor Adeleke during his broadcast to recall that  one of the reinstated APC chairmen, Hon Remi Abass, of Irewole Local Government Council Area of the state, was gruesomely killed by the PDP thugs, who were acting on an inciting address by the governor in the Government House, a day to the killing?

We are even surprised that the governor who is fond of criticising and abusing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at different fora across  Osun State can now resort to pleading with him, to help him reverse the words and letters of the Supreme Court judgement which expressly gave unconditional autonomy to the local government councils across the country.

It is strange that Governor Adeleke can falsely accuse the Nigeria Police Force  who are being guarded by the rule of law, of conniving with the APC on what he termed ‘illegal occupation of local government secretariats and the defence of the democratic order in Osun State’ without any incident to prove his sweeping and circumstantial allegations.

We are appealing to the peace-loving people in this country and beyond to help appeal to Governor Adeleke to stop his deliberate suffering of the grassroots people and  governments in the state by withdrawing all his frivolous court cases aimed at frustrating the seamless payment of the federal allocations which are now domiciled in the various commercial banks being operated by the 30 local government councils and the Area Office, in the state in line with the directive of the Supreme Court, to enable the APC council executives perform optimally without distractions.
