Bandits Abduct Six Residents in Another Attack in Kaduna Community

Less than a week after 177 church members were kidnapped in Kajuru Local Government Area of Kaduna State, suspected bandits have carried out another attack in the same area, abducting six residents of Unguwar Barkonu in Maraban Kajuru.
The latest incident happened in the early hours of Sunday in Kufana Ward, while members of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) were holding special prayers for the safe return of the previously kidnapped worshippers. According to a resident, Steven Kefas, the attackers arrived around 1 a.m. and broke into several houses before taking six people away.
Kefas expressed disappointment that such an attack could happen in a well-connected part of Kajuru. He said the incident did not take place in a remote village but in a central area where people expected some level of security presence. He also complained that no security agency responded quickly after the attack, leaving the community to handle the situation alone.
The Chairman of CAN in Kajuru, Reverend Enoch Kaura, also confirmed the incident. He said the bandits invaded the area late Saturday night and surrounded the community, causing panic among residents. However, when neighbours raised alarm and people began to gather, the attackers fled with six victims.
Kaura described the repeated attacks as disturbing, especially coming shortly after the abduction of church worshippers. He said the situation has increased fear and tension among residents across Kajuru communities.
Attempts to get a response from the Kaduna State Police Command were unsuccessful, as the police spokesperson, DSP Mansir Hassan, could not be reached at the time of reporting.
Meanwhile, a special prayer service was held on Sunday at Tawaliu Baptist Church in Maraban Kajuru for the safe return of the 177 abducted worshippers. The gathering attracted church leaders from different parts of Kaduna State and northern Nigeria.
Family members of the kidnapped victims attended the service, many of them visibly emotional as they waited for news about their loved ones. Church leaders used the occasion to appeal to the government and security agencies to step up efforts to rescue all abducted persons and restore peace in the area.
