Adeleke’s Govt Ran Osun Aground, Oyebamiji Will Restore Stability – Senator Fadahunsi

Adeleke, Fadahunsi
The Senator representing Osun East Senatorial District, Senator Francis Fadahunsi, has expressed strong confidence in the governorship ambition of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, declaring that the former Managing Director of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) possesses the competence and financial expertise required to reposition Osun State for prosperity.
Senator Fadahunsi made the remarks in Abuja on the sidelines of the presentation of the Most Media Friendly Maritime CEO Award to Oyebamiji by the Coalition of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria.
Speaking with journalists shortly after the award ceremony, the lawmaker described Oyebamiji as a seasoned administrator and financial expert whose professional background as a chartered accountant would be instrumental in restoring fiscal discipline and sustainable development in Osun State.
He criticized the current administration in the state, alleging that Osun is presently facing serious governance and financial challenges. According to him, the state would be fortunate to have Oyebamiji emerge victorious in the August 8, 2026 off-cycle governorship election.
While acknowledging that the next administration would inherit significant challenges, Senator Fadahunsi maintained that Oyebamiji’s experience in public service and financial management would enable him to effectively navigate the situation.
“Asiwaju Oyebamiji is an innovator and a renowned accountant. He has served under two different governors and now seeks to serve at the highest level in the state. Accountants are prudent, methodical and financially disciplined. They ensure resources are properly sourced and managed before embarking on projects,” he said.
He further described Oyebamiji as a focused and serious-minded administrator who has consistently demonstrated restraint and fiscal responsibility in public office.
Senator Fadahunsi also referenced Oyebamiji’s tenure at NIWA, noting that his leadership brought measurable reforms and administrative improvements within a relatively short period.
“We are expecting him in Osun to replicate the transformation he achieved at NIWA. The state is currently in distress, and whoever takes over must be prepared to rebuild and reposition it strategically. I am confident he has what it takes,” the senator stated.
Oyebamiji’s recent recognition as the Most Media Friendly Maritime CEO has further strengthened endorsements from political stakeholders who view his leadership style and administrative track record as assets ahead of the 2026 governorship race.
