OSUN PEOPLE DEMAND ANSWERS: 18 KEY QUESTIONS FOR ADELEKE AS 2026 GOVERNORSHIP CAMPAIGN OPENS

OSUN PEOPLE DEMAND ANSWERS: 18 KEY QUESTIONS FOR ADELEKE AS 2026 GOVERNORSHIP CAMPAIGN OPENS

As the official campaign for the 2026 Osun State governorship election commences today, the Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) Media Fronts has formulated 18 critical questions bordering on governance, accountability and public finance for the Osun State Government to answer.

The answers to these questions will help the people of Osun State determine whether Governor Ademola Adeleke deserves a second term in office.

The AMBO Media Fronts is not unaware that the state government, in its characteristic arrogance and habitual lack of clear answers to pressing public issues, may attempt to evade or parry these questions. However, the issues raised here constitute measurable governance benchmarks through which the performance of the Adeleke administration can be objectively assessed.

Indeed, the questions represent a governance scorecard. A governor who fails to score excellent marks on matters of transparency, fiscal responsibility and service delivery does not deserve re-election.

The questions are as follows:

  1. Why has Governor Ademola Adeleke refused to recognize the APC-led local government leadership despite the positions of the Court of Appeal, the Supreme Court, the Central Bank of Nigeria, the Attorney General of the Federation, the Inspector General of Police, and the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation affirming them as the legally recognized chairmen and councillors?

  1. Why has the Osun State Government allocated only ₦7.6 billion to agriculture in three years despite earning close to ₦1 trillion in revenue within the same period?

  1. What justifies Governor Ademola Adeleke spending ₦92 billion on governor’s office while key sectors of the economy remain poorly funded?

  1. Why has the Osun State Government failed to produce the 114 tractors it claimed to have purchased in a press statement dated August 25, 2024, signed by Mallam Olawale Rasheed?

  1. If 114 tractors were indeed purchased, why is the government now laying claim to only 31 tractors?

  1. Why did the Osun State Government fail to procure modern buses, like many other states did, after receiving the ₦2 billion federal grant meant to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal in 2023?

  1. Why did the government fail to allocate funds for the payment of gratuity arrears in 2025, despite earning ₦381 billion in revenue in that year alone?

  1. Why did Governor Adeleke spend over ₦7 billion on local and international travel in 2025 while only ₦1.5 billion was released for the Agriculture and Food Security sector?

  1. Why has the Osun State Government committed only ₦15 billion to the payment of half-salary arrears inherited from the Rauf Aregbesola administration despite receiving about ₦1 trillion in revenue since November 2022?

  1. What was the total half-salary liability inherited by the Adeleke administration in November 2022?

  1. What portion of the half-salary arrears has been paid so far if the ₦15 billion figure is incorrect?

  1. How many civil servants and pensioners are currently on the payroll of the Osun State Government?

  1. What is the total monthly wage bill for these civil servants and pensioners?

  1. How many political appointees are on the payroll of the Osun State Government as of January 2026?

  1. What is the total monthly cost of maintaining the political appointees serving the Adeleke administration?

  1. Why are some students of the University of Ilesa and Osun State University paying up to ₦1.5 million in school fees per session, thereby making the two institutions the most expensive public universities in Nigeria?

  1. What qualifies two relatives of Governor Ademola Adeleke from Ede to serve as Rectors of Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, and Osun State College of Technology, Esa-Oke, especially when many believe they are among the least qualified for such critical positions?

  1. Why were the two Rectors given preferential treatment, including SUVs reportedly worth ₦150 million each, when their counterparts in other institutions do not enjoy such expensive official vehicles?

Any administration seeking another mandate from the electorate must first account for its stewardship.

Osun people will judge accordingly.

Adebayo Adedeji
