Abia Police Rescue Three Kidnapped Children and Arrest Five Kidnappers, Including a Reverend Sister
The Abia State Police Command has successfully rescued three kidnapped children from their captors in operations spanning Anambra and Delta States.
ASP Maureen Chinaka, the command’s spokesperson, announced the successful rescue mission and the arrest of five suspects, among them a Reverend Sister, in a statement released on Saturday.
The statement detailed that on May 10, 2024, a report was received about the abduction of three boys—Gideon Osinachi (8), Obioma Divine Osinachi (6), and Israel Osinachi (4)—by an unknown cyclist from Amoba Okoro village in Ikwuanno LGA, Abia State. The cyclist, who had been hired by their grandmother to take them home after a visit, absconded with the children.
The rescue operation saw Obioma retrieved on May 21 in Ekwulobia, Anambra State, Gideon on May 23 in Nkpor, Anambra State, and Israel on June 13 in Warri, Delta State.
“All three children have been successfully reunited with their family,” the statement confirmed.
The investigation and rescue operation, which took place from May 10 to June 13, led to the arrest of four female suspects and one male suspect. These suspects were apprehended at various locations, including Amawbia and Nkpor in Anambra State, and Warri in Delta State. They are Reverend Sister Pauline Alozie, Chizoba DJ, Glory Umuna, Mrs. Georgina Nonye Okoye, and Philip Ibe. The suspects are currently in custody and will soon face charges in court.
The statement also acknowledged the valuable cooperation of various stakeholders in the successful rescue of the children.
Previously, in April, FIRST CLASS GISTS reported that the Ebonyi State Police Command dismantled a child abduction ring, resulting in the rescue of six kidnapped children.
