“Adeleke Outshines APC’s 12-Year Rule” — Lawmaker Defects, Cites Governor’s Performance

In osun state, Nigeria, A member of the House of Representatives representing Ayedaade/Isokan/Irewole Federal Constituency, Lanre Oladebo, has declared that Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has delivered more impactful governance in under four years than the All Progressives Congress (APC) achieved during its 12-year tenure in the state.

Oladebo made the assertion while formally receiving his membership card of the Accord Party, confirming his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). According to reports by The Punch and The Nation Newspaper, the lawmaker attributed his political realignment to what he described as Adeleke’s visible developmental strides, particularly in infrastructure.

He argued that the governor’s performance stands out despite challenges, including what he alleged to be the withholding of local government funds by the Federal Government. “Governor Adeleke’s achievements have influenced our decision. His record in infrastructure speaks clearly, and that is why we aligned with the Accord Party,” Oladebo said.

The lawmaker further called on residents of Osun State to sustain their support for the current administration, noting that continued backing would enable the governor to deliver more projects and strengthen governance at all levels.

Oladebo also appealed to the Federal Government to release local government allocations to the state, warning that the situation could hinder development at the grassroots. He maintained that previous APC administrations did not face similar constraints, yet failed to match the current administration’s pace of development.

“We witnessed years of APC leadership without such challenges, yet the level of progress we are seeing now is different. Supporting the governor will ensure more benefits reach the people,” he added.

In his remarks, the Osun State Chairman of the Accord Party, Victor Akande, welcomed the lawmaker into the party, describing his defection as a significant boost. As reported by Daily Trust, Akande assured Oladebo of full support and encouraged party members and residents to embrace the party’s digital registration system ahead of its primary elections.

Political observers say the development reflects shifting alliances within Osun State’s political landscape, as parties reposition ahead of future electoral contests.
