- Amaechi Blows Hot on Rivers Political Crisis: “The State is Tired of Wike, River Gov is not the best”
Former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, recently spoke about the political crisis in the state involving Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
During a visit to APC leader Hon. Okorinama West in Port Harcourt, Amaechi announced his decision to remain neutral, opting not to back either Governor Fubara or the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Wike, amid the ongoing conflict.
Amaechi highlighted that Governor Fubara’s growing popularity is mainly due to the public’s growing dissatisfaction with Wike. According to Amaechi, the people of Rivers State are tired of Wike, which has contributed to Fubara’s increasing support.
He also observed changes in the political dynamics, noting that some of his former supporters have aligned with different factions for personal reasons. Additionally, Amaechi urged young supporters to actively participate in the state’s governance.
“I will not support either Sim or Wike,” Amaechi stated. “Their influence depends on your support. Sim’s current popularity is due to his opposition to Wike, not because he is the best candidate. The state’s weariness with Wike is what boosts Sim’s appeal.”
