FC Barcelona icon Lionel Messi shared his thoughts in an interview with Infobae, acknowledging that Real Madrid is presently the “best team in the world.”
“When it comes to results, it’s Real Madrid. As for playing style, I’m a big fan of Guardiola’s Manchester City. I believe every team he coaches is special. In terms of playing style, Manchester City leads. But in terms of results, it’s Real Madrid,” Messi elaborated.
This recognition from Messi is hardly unexpected given Real Madrid’s recent success, having secured another Liga-Champions League double this year. Despite suggesting that Manchester City plays more attractive football, it’s understandable, given Messi’s continued admiration for Pep Guardiola.
Real Madrid’s dominance this year is undeniable, and it’s likely that a player from the club will win the upcoming Ballon d’Or, validating Messi’s viewpoint.
