APC DECLARES READINESS FOR PARTY PRIMARIES, RELEASES TIMETABLE

At the behest of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s, INEC’s, release of parties primary and general elections timetables; and the enmeshed of major opposition parties in legal battles to find their bearings, the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has declared its total preparedness for its primaries and has released its schedule of events.
SALES OF FORMS
The party has recently enunciated dates of: forms sales and costs; screening and primaries.
Sales of forms according to the APC timetable will run from April 25 – May 2, 2026, at the party’s National Headquarters, Wuse II, Abuja, and all completed forms are to be submitted on or before May 4.
The presidential forms are earmarked at N100m including declaration of interest forms, while that of governors is pegged at N50m including interest forms; Senate, House of Reps and Houses of Assembly are marked at N20m, N10m and N6m including expression of interests.
People living with disabilities, youth and women are to pay for the expression of
interest forms and 50% of the nomination forms.
Screening of aspirants is scheduled thus: Presidential aspirants – May 9; others –
May 6 & 8; further screening will be on May 12 & 13.
The presidential and governorship primaries are slated for May 16 and May 23, 2026, while Senate, House of Reps and Houses of Assembly for May 20, May 18 & May 21, 2026 respectively.
CAMPAIGNS
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, which fixed parties’ primaries and resolution of disputes arising from them between April 23, 2026 and
May 30, 2026, slated Presidential and National Assembly campaigns to start on
August 19, 2026, while that of governors and houses of assembly on September 9, 2026.
Presidential and National Assembly campaigns are to end on January 14, 2027 as elections will take place on January 16, 2027; likewise governorship and houses of assembly to end on February 4, 2027, as elections will hold on February 6, 2027.
Speaking on the issue recently, APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka said the party is committed to conducting credible and transparent primaries. He said in a statement, “The APC reassures members, stakeholders, and Nigerians of its commitment to conducting a credible and transparent primary election that will further strengthen the party’s internal democracy and consolidate its progressive ideals.”
