APC Summons Rep Over Controversial Endorsement of Delta State Governor, Oborevwori For 2nd Term

APC Convenes Hearing for Rep Following Endorsement of Oborevwori for Second Term

Francis Waive’s public support for Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s bid for a second term has sparked controversy within the All Progressives Congress (APC). Waive, who serves as the representative for Ughelli North, Ughelli South, and Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has expressed his backing for Oborevwori.

In response, the Delta State APC has accused Waive of engaging in anti-party activities and has called him to appear before a disciplinary panel. In a letter issued to the lawmaker yesterday, Chairman Omeni Sobotie criticized Waive’s endorsement as “serious anti-party conduct.”

Sobotie highlighted that a video circulating online, in which Waive is seen promoting support for Oborevwori of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), undermines the interests of the APC. The PDP has condemned Waive’s actions, stating that his support, as a sitting member of the national assembly, constitutes a blatant violation of party principles and has damaged the party’s reputation, in accordance with Article 21:21 (I) & (ii) of its constitution.
