APGA Reveals those Involve in Killings in Anambra, Claims It’s their Tactics to Disrupt 2025 Election

The National Coordinator of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) Media Warriors Forum, Evangelist Chinedu Obigwe, has accused opposition forces of orchestrating the recent spate of violence in Anambra State, describing the killings as politically motivated attempts to destabilize the state ahead of the 2025 governorship election.
In a statement issued in Awka, Obigwe expressed his condolences for the victims and their families, praying for their souls to rest in peace and for the bereaved families to find strength to cope with the loss. He argued that the opposition’s tactics, including sponsored violence, would not result in a change of government in Anambra in the upcoming election.
Obigwe recounted a conversation with an activist friend following a deadly attack on vigilante operatives in Ukpo and Abatete, as well as the destruction of a tanker at Nkwelle Junction. He raised concerns that these killings appeared to be well-coordinated and executed by hired gunmen who were able to carry out their attacks without facing opposition from security forces.
His observations, he said, reminded him of similar violent incidents in Anambra during the 2020-2021 period, when he had publicly declared that the bloodshed was politically motivated. “These killings are designed to create fear among voters,” Obigwe said. “By instilling terror, the perpetrators aim to discourage people from voting, thus creating an environment where voter apathy allows for election manipulation, especially with the increased military presence in the state.”
Obigwe pointed out that the violence was a part of a broader strategy to disrupt the electoral process. He warned that the opposition was attempting to create the false narrative that Anambra was unsafe, which could lead to militarization and election rigging. He firmly rejected the notion of “unknown gunmen” as a myth, stating, “These are sponsored killers with a clear agenda to tarnish the image of Governor Soludo’s administration.”
He also criticized the opposition for lacking viable campaign issues, resorting instead to violence and insecurity to weaken the public’s confidence in the state’s leadership ahead of the 2025 election. Despite these efforts, Obigwe expressed confidence that the people of Anambra would see through these tactics and stand firm in their support of Governor Charles Soludo.
Obigwe reiterated that Soludo’s leadership was a blessing for Anambra, and that no amount of politically motivated violence would derail his mission to complete his tenure. “The will of the people will prevail, just as it did in 2021, and it will happen again in 2025,” he concluded.
