Bandits Attack Tse-Abur Village in Benue, Security Forces Fight Back, One Soldier Hurt

On May 26, 2025, a joint team of security personnel and Civilian Joint Task Force successfully repelled an armed assault by suspected bandits in Tse-Abur village, located in Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to intelligence sources, the attack occurred around 9:00 AM when seven gunmen in a dark blue Peugeot 504 with tinted windows opened fire on mobile police officers stationed in the area.
In a swift counter-response, the security team returned fire, leading to an intense exchange that forced the attackers to retreat. Some of the assailants are believed to have sustained injuries while escaping with their vehicle.
During the confrontation, Sergeant Dakiki Vilyit of the 45 Police Mobile Force (PMF) based in Abuja was shot in the leg. He was immediately taken to the General Hospital in Ugba, where he is currently receiving treatment and reported to be in stable condition.
