Benue Local Government Elections: APC Secures All Chairmanship and Councillorship Positions

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in the recent elections held across all 23 Local Government Areas in Benue State.Â
Richard Tombowua, Chairman of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC), announced the election results at 9:16 AM on Sunday. He confirmed that the APC won every chairmanship position as well as all 276 councillorship seats in the state, with no seats allocated to rival parties.
While eight political parties participated in the elections, only five were deemed active: APC, Action Alliance Congress (AAC), Labour Party (LP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), and Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), along with New Nigerian People’s Party (NNPP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP). The BSIEC accepted candidate lists based on directives from the parties’ leadership.
Tombowua commended the elections for their integrity, declaring them free and fair, and described this exercise as the most successful local government election in the state’s history. He instructed the winners to collect their certificates of return at the commission’s headquarters at 2 PM on Sunday.
