Benue PDP Supports APC’s Prayer Session for Tinubu

The Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) recently organized a prayer session for President Bola Tinubu, aimed at supporting his efforts to govern the nation effectively.

In response, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benue expressed that the APC’s call for prayers indicated a recognition that the President needed to enhance his governance.

The prayer session, which began at noon on Monday and continued into the evening, was attended by Benue APC leaders and members. Held at the Makurdi residence of Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, the session was split into two parts and led by attending bishops.

The bishops focused on eight prayer points, including petitions for Nigeria’s peace, wisdom and knowledge for the President, improvements in the nation’s economy and security, and divine intervention in the ongoing nationwide strike. They also prayed specifically for the security situation in Benue State.

Benue APC Chairman Austin Agada explained that the prayer session was organized in light of the country’s current challenges and to mark the first anniversary of Tinubu’s administration. Agada stated, “This prayer session was organized for President Bola Tinubu, the nation, and the SGF, Senator George Akume, on the occasion of one year in office. Considering the country’s situation—security challenges, the economy, and the ongoing labor strike—we need to pray for the President and his team for God’s guidance and intervention.”

Agada assured that the state and the North Central geopolitical zone would continue to support the President and pray for his success in office.

Publicity Secretary of the Benue APC, Bemgba Iortyom, noted that the PDP saw nothing wrong with the APC’s decision to hold a prayer session. He remarked, “It is normal for followers of any faith to pray for their leaders because leaders need encouragement. The fact that they are praying for the President suggests they believe there are areas needing improvement. We trust these prayers will help redirect the authorities’ focus towards enhancing the country’s security and alleviating the suffering of Nigerians. We hope the prayers will inspire the leaders to refocus their policies on improving the well-being of the Nigerian masses.”
