The Borno State Police Command, has re-arrested a 28-year-old convict Kyari Kur (aka Henry), who escaped from prison following the flood disaster that hit Maiduguri, the state capital in September 2024, which led to the collapse of prison’s fence. Kyari Kur was serving a jail term for criminal conspiracy and theft at the Medium Security Custodian Center in Maiduguri. An unspecified number of inmates escaped after the flood incident.
A statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Kenneth Daso on Friday said: “On October 10, 2024, police surveillance at Gubio divisional headquarters received a credible tip-off that Kur was sighted in Gubio town. Swiftly responding to the information, the police apprehended Kur. The convict has been profiled and will be handed over to the Nigeria Correctional Service for further action.
The Borno State Police Command remains committed to ensuring public safety and justice. We appreciate the public’s cooperation and urge them to continue providing timely information.
“The Command urges members of the public to report any suspicious activities or information regarding fugitives to the nearest police station or through the following channels: 0806 807 5581, 0802 347 3293”. Daso stated.
