BREAKING: 75-Year-Old Pilgrim from Edo State Passes Away During Hajj in Saudi Arabia

A 75-year-old pilgrim from Edo State has sadly passed away while performing the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The incident occurred as the faithful gathered from across the world for the annual Islamic spiritual exercise. While specific details about the circumstances surrounding the pilgrim’s death remain limited, authorities have confirmed that the individual died of natural causes during one of the rites.
Nigerian Hajj officials in Saudi Arabia have reportedly been in contact with the deceased’s family and have also notified relevant Saudi authorities. Efforts are being made to ensure that proper Islamic burial rites are carried out in accordance with both Saudi regulations and religious customs.
The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has extended its condolences to the family of the deceased and the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, assuring the public that all necessary support will be provided.
This incident is a somber reminder of the physical and emotional demands of the pilgrimage, especially for elderly participants. Nigerian officials continue to monitor the well-being of pilgrims and have urged them to report any health concerns promptly to the medical teams
on ground.
