BREAKING: Four Arraigned in Abuja Over Terror Charges and Murder of Hon. Remi Abass

The suspects in the gruesome murder of people, including one Hon. Remi Abass were today 15th October, 2025 arraigned before the Honourable Justice Joyce O. Abdulmalik of Court 6 of the Federal High Court, Abuja.
Upon presentation of the Charge, A. S. Oyeyemi Esq., appeared for the Inspector General of Police and Mr. Sunday Adebayo Esq and two others appeared for the Defendants while Muhydeen Adeoye Esq watched the brief for the nominal complaints. The Amended Charge No. FHC/ABJ/CR/170/2025 Between
Inspector General of Police v. Abubakar Kabiru A.K.A JEJE & 3 Ors reads thus;
COUNT ONE
That you (1) Abubakar Kabiru A.k.A Jeje 38 year old (2) Tajudeen
Opeyemi 30 years (3) Akeem Agbomojo 28 years (4) Akintoye
Olayemi 40 years, all of lkire and Apomu, Osun state, within the
jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, sometimes around and or about 17th February, 2025 with others (now at large), did conspire, aid, abet, and instigate act of terrorism in various villages and
towns in Osun State and particularly in lkire of Osun State. You
thereby committed an offence contrary to section 26 (1) (2) (a) (b) and (c) of Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition)Act, 2022.

That you (1) Abubakar Kabiru A.k.A Jeje 38 year old (2) Tajudeen
Opeyemi 30 years (3) Akeem Agbomojo 28 years (4) Akintoye
Olayemi 40 years, all of lkire and Apomu, Osun state, within the
jurisdiction of this Honourable Court, sometimes around and about 17th February, 2025 with others (now at large) did conspired among yourselves and other (now at large) to commit an offence to wit; illegal possession of firearms. You were arrested with three (3)pump action Riffles. You thereby committed offence contrary to Section 3 of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Robbery Provisions)Act, LFN 2004.

That you (1) Abubakar Kabiru A.k.A Jeje 38 year old (2) TajudeenOpeyemi 30 years (3) Akeem Agbomojo 28 years (4) AkintoyeOlayemi 40 years, all of Ikire and Apomu, Osun state, within thejurisdiction of this honourable Court, sometimes around and or about 17th February, 2025 with others (now at large) did kill one Remi Abass on 17th February, 2024 at Ikire, Osun State. You knew death will be probable cause of your action. You thereby committed an offence contrary to section 316 and punishable under section 319 of Criminal Code Act, Cap 38 LFN, 2004.
All the Defendants pleaded not guilty to all the counts after which the Judge directed that the Defendants be remanded in the Kuje Custodian Center and by the agreement of the counsel adjourned the hearing of the case to 4th December, 2025.
Recall that after the Court of Appeal judgment of 10th February, 2025, the APC reinstated Chairmen and Councilors resumed the councils and they were attacked which led to deaths of several people including one Hon. Remi Abass, Chairman Irewole Local Government in Osun State.
The police swung into action, which led to the arrest of the Defendants. The police had earlier filed a charge which included 7 Defendants led by one Jide Jooda but the charge was first withdrawn today by the prosecution stating no reason other than that one had died while awaiting prosecution and others at large.
The matter was then adjourned to 4th December, 2025
