One Fatality Confirmed in Third Mainland Bridge Accident, Says LASTMA
The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) has confirmed that one person died in an accident on the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos on Saturday, June 29
The accident, which took place around 6:30 am, involved a mini truck with the license plate MUS 489 XS and a Toyota Camry with the license plate KRD 470 JD.
Sharing a video on its official X handle, LASTMA reported: “A fatal accident occurred early this morning around 6:30 am on the Third Mainland Bridge by Unilag water front inward Iyana Oworonsoki, resulting in one life lost. The vehicles involved were a mini truck (MUS 489 XS) and a Toyota Camry (KRD 470 JD). LASTMA personnel are on site managing the situation and controlling traffic despite the rain. SAY NO TO OVER-SPEEDING ON THIRD MAINLAND BRIDGE.”
Additional emergency responders at the scene included officers from the Nigerian Police Force, SEHMU personnel, and a LASTMA tow truck working to clear the vehicles and restore the flow of traffic on the bridge.
